Full analysis

Ghana is experiencing a broad-based economic resurgence in 2025–2026, with real GDP growth of 6% in 2025 (up from 5.8% in 2024), headline inflation easing to 5.4% by December 2025, and FDI surging to a record US$2.62 billion — a four-fold jump from US$652 million in 2024 — across 254 registered projects. The services and ICT sectors are the fastest-growing segments of the economy, with ICT expanding 9.9% year-on-year and mobile money transactions up 74%. Agriculture — particularly cocoa and cassava — grew 6.8% over the full year. The government's 'Big Push' infrastructure initiative has committed GH¢13.9 billion (~$1.1bn) to priority projects in 2025, rising to ~$1.6bn by 2028. A landmark US$1 billion Ghana-UAE AI Hub deal and a US$2 billion Jubilee/TEN oilfield agreement headline a US$11.48 billion announced investment pipeline. On the trade front, China — Ghana's largest trading partner at $14.1bn in bilateral trade — enacted a zero-tariff policy for Ghanaian exports effective May 2025, while the expiry of AGOA in September 2025 is pushing Ghana to accelerate diversification toward China, the EU (via the Ghana-EU EPA), and intra-African markets under AfCFTA. New investment legislation removing the minimum foreign capital requirement and introducing an investor grievance mechanism is awaiting presidential assent.
